Popular treatments to improve active acne and scarring include Carboxytherapy, NdYAG, CO2 Laser, LED Light Therapy, and Chemical Skin Peels. These are the best treatments currently available at the clinic and are all non-surgical and safe.  Carboxytherapy Carboxytherapy therapy, also known as carbon dioxide therapy or CDT, is becoming more widely used within the UK. It has been used to address acne scars. A small amount of carbon dioxide gas in injected into the target area. This tricks the blood cells into treating the carbon dioxide as a waste product. Oxygen rich blood cells rush into the area to remove the carbon dioxide via the lung, and in doing so this increases the oxygen in the area. By increasing the amount of oxygen, the cells will become more active and thus: speed up any healing, accelerate new cell production and rejuvenates the area. You can read more about this on the Carboxytherapy treatment page. CO2 Laser This advanced laser resurfacing treatment removes damaged skin and is ideal for tackling stubborn acne scars. It’s not for active acne. CO2 Lasers work by precisely removing outer layers of skin to reveal new skin. This controlled injury to the skin allows the skin to rebuild itself smoother and more refined. Our CO2 laser, Quanta ULase and AcuPulse, are suitable for those with scarring due to acne. You can find out more about this on the CO2 Laser treatment page. NdYAG long pulsed 1064 nm Laser A new treatment modality has been tried with success in Active acne. Is a safe and effective way to treat active acne with reasonable results. LED Light Therapy LED light therapy stimulates the skin’s natural repair and rejuvenation processes. It is safe for all skin types and is effective in the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions – most commonly we use it to treat adult acne. This non-invasive technique uses Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to combat acne and promote skin rejuvenation. It’s effective and reliable, although a course of treatments will be required in most cases to yield the best results. You can read more about this on the LED Light Therapy treatment page. Chemical Skin Peels Chemical peels have been a popular cosmetic procedure to treat skin imperfections for a long time, as they also help to refine skin tone and texture. They create a more clear and smooth appearance of the skin and improve the complexion of the face overall. Helpfully, peel treatments can also be performed on other parts of the body, such as the neck and back, if you have acne outside of the face area. The effects of a chemical peel will depend on the specific treatment administered, from superficial to medium-depth and deep peels. Superficial peels are perfect for treating acne marks and imperfections, while the deeper peels can combat more pronounced scarring giving skin a more even appearance. You can read more about this on the Chemical Skin Peel treatment page.
