PRP the plasma therapy for Regenerative Medicine

Why plasma therapy ?

It is simple, safe, autologous, has a wide range of applications in treating musculoskeletal pathologies, to treating wound healing, treating autoimmune diseases  to treatment applied in aesthetic procedures.

What are the common indications of PRP in Aesthetic and Regenerative Medicine

  •          Wound healing
  •          Post -surgical wound healing
  •          Skin and facial rejuvenation
  •          Hair restoration
  •          Hand rejuvenation
  •          Breast augmentation
  •          Musculoskeletal regeneration

What is Platelet Rich Plasma ?

Platelet Rich Plasma is derived from your own blood, which is then centrifuged in a machine, which separates the blood in 3 components, the Red blood cells which sediments to the bottom, the plasma that contains the platelets and the white cells on top. Platelets derived from this process are concentrated above the normal physiological levels.

What is PRP injection ?

Blood is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets which are suspended in plasma. Platelets are vital proteins that promote cell function and immunity. PRP is concentrated platelets that are harvested from the blood through a centrifuge, in which the blood that is collected is spun at high speed. Platelets are the frontline healing response to injuries as they release growth factors for tissue repair. PRP contains five times higher concentrations of platelets above normal values. Platelets are tiny components of blood that are rich in growth factors and play crucial role in forming clots and repair injuries. Wound healing of damaged tissues depends on the platelet concentrations. PRP acts by nurturing the cells that can help in self-healing and augment the healing process by resolution of damaged tissues.

It is a minimally invasive, non-surgical , needle injection

Functions of platelets

The primary role of platelets were thought to be aggregation around an injury to form a clot and help in healing. Recent studies are emerging to show platelets help in regulating inflammation, increase blood supply, Stem Cells migration and cell proliferation. Platelets also host a vast reservoir of over 800 proteins which when secreted act upon the Stem cells, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells.

Apart from its structural functional role in healing PRP has also been implicated in the reduced use of narcotics, improved sleep and pain reduction.

How long does the treatment process take?

The treatment takes approximately an hour. There is no downtime and the effects of treatment takes a few weeks to reveal beneficial effects.

How many treatments are required?

One or more treatments could be required depending on the clinical condition that it would be used for.

What makes our treatments of PRP more evidence based?

We use the lumiratek machine to analyse the blood, so that we know the concentration of Platelets prior to injecting the patient.

What is the cost of PRP?

Please get a consultation and check with your doctor about the price. Price would depend upon the number of syringes harvested for the treatment
